WHAT IT'S ABOUT

The God Board is a version of Hizen Mind masters adapted for the religious sector and is packaged as a board game to bring fun to teaching and learning the bible. It is patented and is the first of its kind in the world; it is created, designed and produced in Nigeria.

It is an ideal game to be adopted in Sunday schools, children/youth churches and fellowships, homes and any other Christian gathering which seek effective and interesting ways to make learning the bible easier and fun.

Hizen-3 realized this need that in most Christian social gathering and churches, that there are very few games that appeal to Christians, which have significance to their Christian faith, yet fun, interactive and entertaining. This resulted in the conception of the idea of translating the tournament version into a tool that could meet this need.

This is a training tool based on bible which engages the mind of both the young and the old to facilitate the understanding and learning of the Bible which can also be translated to life experiences.

It is an ideal tool which can be adopted for competitions among church members, family, social groups and other organisations. Not only does it test the knowledge of the bible, it’s fun and exciting playing it. Because of its versatility, it has the ability to perform the following functions:

Bible teaching aid
It brings fun to learning from the Bible and church devotionals or manuals when used suitably to evaluate certain Bible Chapters and topics. The board game is designed in such a way that the questions are coined out from the bible or the church’s devotional.

Recreational function
It refreshes the mind and can be used for recreational purposes in churches, homes, Bible competitions, outings and other social gatherings.

Mental ability training
It improves the user’s intellect. In playing the game, an individual’s ability to retain information increases tremendously in the particular subject area. This is due to the mode of question asking which enables the use of as many brain cells as possible to learn a particular topic.
Each type of question is designed to task different parts of the brain, thus continuous play makes a person mentally fit and sound, which ultimately aids learning capabilities, reasoning, creativity to name a few.

Soft and social skills training tool and aid

The Tome of Power (which means book of knowledge) contains all questions that are to be used to play. The questions come in different types each with significant functions

QUESTION TYPES

• General Knowledge:

  Tasks the player’s knowledge on a broad range of facts or subjects relating to the bible.

• Memory Questions:

  Comprises 6-10 unrelated words to be memorized for 30seconds before reciting the same words in the same order as was initially read out. In some cases bible passages and memory verses are employed here.

• Identity and Use Questions:

  Consists of questions requiring person or item identification

• Spelling Questions:

  Consists of a word either wrongly or rightly spelt. The player is expected to determine if the spelling is correct or wrong and if wrong give the right spelling.

• Logic Questions:

  They are questions that task the mind in a logical way enabling a player to give meanings to words or scriptures in the bible.

• Word Formation Questions:

  It consists of scrambled word from which the right word is to be obtained. This is to enhance a player’s creativity.

Views and Comments

It has been played in different churches, by several Christians from several denominations and has been accepted by members of different churches.

It has been said by those who played God Board that scriptures, bible stories and bible passages that they would not remember going by the conventional approach of teaching like the Sunday school, it has now been made achievable through the use of the God Board because of the way the questions are asked and the appealing format.
